Transition to life after school - Glachbeg Education Centre
Friday, September 03, 2010 Using education outside the classroom to help young people through transition to life after school
Bob and Helen Bull run Glachbeg Croft Education Centre on the Black Isle. Bob works full time at the centre and Helen is a Principal Teacher from Drummond school. Helen has developed the “ Leavers’ Programme” for the senior pupils in the school, some of which is delivered through Glachbeg, but also in the wider community.
Glachbeg is a 14 acre croft specialising in educational programmes, using the resources available in a creative way to meet specific targets. Prior to running Glachbeg Bob was a secondary school teacher, and also does work for the Federation of City Farms and Community Gardens. He also has links to other Field Studies Centres through the National Association of Field Studies Officers.
This course will look at the Drummond School Leavers’ Programme, and how Glachbeg can support transition into adulthood.
Cost for the workshop including light refreshments is: £20
