The first informal environmental education
network was held at Glachbeg Croft Education Centre in September 2005. The event
was organised in conjunction with HEN. The group is informal and is for the purposes
of sharing information and ideas.
The emphasis for the group is on the informal,
with no office-bearers or constitution, just opportunities for those involved in environmental or outdoors education in the
Highlands to get together.
Benefits the network hopes to bring:
- Idea swapping
- Sharing problems face to face and be e-mail
- Look at similarities and differences between what people do
- Promoting others in the network
- Collaborating events
- Bringing in experts
- Tapping into our own experience/expertise
- Training
The group proposes to meet 3 or 4 times per
year, visiting different centres around the Highlands. The hosts of each meeting will conduct the required
organisation – invitations, reminders and circulate any minutes as necessary.
