Working Together Research Project

We are delighted to have been successful in obtaining funding support from Awards for All for our ‘Working Together’ Project, which will be learning from community groups and organisations across the Highlands what support would help them to get more involved in environmental projects and sustainable issues. We will be carrying out a survey and talking to groups and organisations that either work on environmental and sustainable issues or have the potential to develop these within their main area of work.

We will discuss with groups some of the challenges they face in developing their own projects, and what could be done by other groups, agencies and funders to support them. It might be that a bit of expert advice could be useful, or learning from the experiences of other groups, perhaps some joint working could help groups to progress their plans  - or it might simply be knowing where tools could be borrowed from. Whatever it is, we’re keen to hear, and to help in improving support to communities.

We have appointed local researchers, who are spread across the Highlands. The researchers are:
  • Caithness - Louise Senior
  • Sutherland - Romany Garnett
  • Ross-shire - Anna Jemmett
  • Inverness-shire - Anna Scott
  • Badenoch and Strathspey - Rachel Avery
  • Skye and Lochalsh - Ellie Maclennan
  • Lochaber - Victoria Barker
They will be selecting a spread of at least 10 groups/organisations across each county and looking for a couple of suitable events to attend in each area.

If you'd like to find out more or take part in the research get in touch with Caroline Vawdrey in the first instance and she'll pass on your details to the researchers.

Caroline is available on hen@highlandenvironment.org.uk or by phone on 07733771186
